Webinar Date: Wednesday, April 3, 2024
Webinar Time: 12:00 – 1:00 PM EST / 18h00 à 19h00 CET
Webinar Description:
We are writing to invite you to join us on Wednesday, April 3rd from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM EST (6pm-7pm CET) to meet with APUAF staff alongside their partners at the French Embassy in Washington, DC for an insightful webinar. This informational session aims to provide comprehensive details about TAPIF – the Teaching Assistant Program in France.
TAPIF offers a remarkable post-graduation academic and professional development opportunity for university students. Participants aged 20-35 will have the chance to experience living and working in France through a 7-month work contract, teaching English to French students of all ages in public schools across France, including the Departments d’Outre Mer (overseas departments such as Martinque and Guadeloupe).
With an annual intake of approximately 1,300 American teaching assistants, TAPIF fosters language and cultural exchange, enabling participants to enhance their language proficiency, teaching skills, and personal development in this pre-professional mobility program.
While applicants are required to have a B2 level of French on the CEFR scale and complete at least 6 semesters of university classes, students from diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply.
Applications for TAPIF open on October 15th and close in January every year on tapif.org.
TAPIF, as part of the French Embassy’s cultural and education department, also provides exciting opportunities for participants to pursue a career in teaching. The new TAPIF to Teacher Program (as part of the French for All Initiative) offers a scholarship for a French as a foreign language certificate in France, along with transfer credits towards a Master in Teaching at esteemed U.S. partner universities such as Boston University and Concordia College. Additionally, TAPIF alumni can apply for the Multi-State Pathways to Teaching French program, which facilitates a teaching career through an online curriculum, a learning plan for obtaining a teaching license, and connections with local education agencies.
