The St. John’s Paris Association invites applications for qualified professors to teach Appreciation of French Food, Wine & Culture in the Lesley H. & William L. Collins College of Professional Studies for the Office of International Education at St. John’s University. This position is a fixed-term, temporary teaching assignment for the Summer 2025 session, i.e. un contrat à durée déterminée.

Course Description:

HMT 2030 Appreciation of French Food, Wine & Culture

This course provides an overview of French history and culture through an examination of food and wine traditions. Special emphasis on regional cuisines and wine production, and their development in contemporary France. (Credit: 3 semester hours)

Skills :

· Proficiency in English

· Experience in teaching, particularly in an English-language context

Qualifications :

PhD or ABD in relevant discipline

European Union citizenship or legal right to work in France

Located in the sixth arrondissement, the Paris, France facility is the site of two popular St. John’s study abroad opportunities: the Semester in Paris program and the Western Europe Semester program through which students earn course credit in three European cities in a single term.

Conditions :

We are offering this course for the Summer in Paris study abroad program in Summer 2025.

The dates for the second summer session are July 15 to August 7, 2025. Classes typically run Monday through Thursday. The schedule is not yet determined.

The class will meet two hours and thirty minutes per day, four days per week, for 40 contact hours in total.
