The Admission Counselor at Parsons Paris is a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who will work with the Senior Director of Admission and Enrollment in Paris, as well as the Assistant Director of Admission and the Admission team to provide comprehensive support for the Office of Admission on all levels of the recruitment and enrollment process, and manage the full range of inquiries, administrative support services, campus visits, admission activities and special events on and off campus. The incumbent must be flexible to work weekends and evenings during high volume admission times.

Position Availability: immediately


Responsibilities:
● Handle Admission inquiries and events, including campus tours, information sessions, and online events, as well as assist in all phases of the recruitment/admission process.

● Data entry and management of information as needed, such as entering contact forms into systems and executing reports

● Field incoming communications (telephone calls and emails) from prospective students, parents, and college counselors interested in knowing or receiving information about the details of academic programs and community at Parsons Paris

● Provide basic information and routine advice, guidance and assistance to prospective students on admission procedures and eligibility requirements

● Interview and counsel students on admission requirements, conduct group information sessions, and may also need to represent The New School at high schools, college fairs, and a full range of public and service organizations

● Maintain a strong understanding and accurate account of information about the academic programs at Parsons Paris and The New School

● Participate in the development and maintenance of the department’s recruitment materials and communication plan, including online events and social media

● Speak publicly to individuals and groups during events and meetings

● Provide basic financial aid and scholarship information to prospective students and families

● Review admission applications and credentials to determine eligibility for admission

● Review transfer admission files and determine credit transfers

● Deliver first-class service to all internal and external stakeholders

● Some travel may be required

● Other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s Degree required, coursework, major or interest in liberal arts, arts, design, or fashion

● Facility with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with complex data entry systems or databases a plus

● Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills

● Excellent oral and written communication skills

● Pay attention to details and deadlines

● Knowledge of French

● Must have current long-term and valid permission and legal status to work in France

● Ability to interact well with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students

Primary Responsibilities

Preparing the program arrivals

  • Gathering and translating the students’ forms (working in collaboration with the Housing Coordinators).
  • Participating in the planning and organization of cultural events throughout the programs, always taking into account the specificities of each group (planning, booking, etc.).
  • Preparing budgets (in agreement with the managers).
  • Preparing all the materials for the students’ arrival (“Welcome Packs”, transportation passes, orientation meetings, etc.).

Daily administrative tasks

  • Managing mail and setting the office at the beginning and end of each day.
  • Updating the database (Providers – Reservations – Students forms, etc.).
  • Keeping track of, updating and organizing the students’ files.
  • Helping the Housing Coordinator to prepare the apartments before, during and after the students’ stay (check-in, mid-semester check, check-out, etc.).
  • On-call duty.

Cultural and events communication

  • Set a list of events that may be of interest to students during their stay in Paris.
  • Prepare the activity calendar and the sign-up forms.
  • Communicate on cultural events and ISA activities.
  • Create content for social media, the ISA mobile app, and the display screen in the office (announcements, pictures, videos, etc.).
  • Welcoming and helping students
  • Welcome students at their arrival at the different airports around Paris.
  • Welcome students at the office and manage phone calls during office hours.
  • Listen to, follow and help solving students’ difficulties on a daily basis, always communicating well with the rest of the team.
  • Preparing sign-up sheets / forms, keeping track of students’ attendance and updating the lists, and ensuring the smooth running of each activity.
  • Throughout the whole year, accompany and animate the excursions (on some weekends) and the cultural activities.



 

 

Required skills:

  • Experience in teaching, particularly in an English-language context
  • European Union citizenship or legal right to work in France
  • Proficiency in English
 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Level of study: bachelor’s degree minimum
  • Good knowledge of Paris and of French culture; some experience in the welcoming American clients would be appreciated.
  • Know how to listen, be patient, friendly and welcoming
  • Active, voluntary and independent
