The Admission Counselor is a dynamic and enthusiastic individual
who will work with the Senior Director of Admission and
Enrollment in Paris and the Admission team to provide
comprehensive support for the Office of Admission on all levels of
the recruitment and enrollment process, and manage the full
range of inquiries, administrative support services, campus visits,
admission activities and special events on and off campus.
The chosen candidate must be flexible to work weekends and
evenings during high volume admission times.

Position Availability: January 2019

● Handle Admission inquiries and events, including campus
tours and information sessions, and online events, and
assist in all phases of the recruitment/admission process
● Assure data entry and management of information as
needed, such as entering contact forms into systems and
executing reports

● Field incoming communications (telephone calls and emails)
from prospective students, parents, and college counselors
interested in knowing or receiving information about the
details of academic programs and community at Parsons
● Provide basic information and routine advice, guidance and
assistance to prospective students using established
procedures and policies on available programs and eligibility
● Correspond with prospective students regarding admission
policies, procedures and documentation
● Interview and counsel students on admission requirements,
conduct group information sessions, and may also need to
represent The New School at high schools, college fairs, and
a full range of public and service organizations
● Supervise student workers
● Maintain a strong understanding and accurate account of
information about academic programs, Parsons Paris and
The New School community
● Participate in the development, maintenance and execution
of the department’s recruitment materials and
communication plan to prospective and admitted students,
including online events and social media
● Speak publicly to individuals and groups during events and
meetings, such as the Parsons Paris Open House, Admitted
Student Day, National Portfolio Day, Summer Portfolio
reviews, etc.
● Facilitate the enhancement and maintenance of the
admission social media plan that is designed to engage
prospective students, their families, and others who desire a
relationship with Parsons Paris
● Provide basic financial aid and scholarship information to
prospective students and families
● Review admission applications and credentials to determine
eligibility for admission
● Review transfer admission files and determine credit
● Deliver first-class service to all internal and external
● Other duties as assigned by supervisor
● Some travel may be required

● Bachelor’s Degree required

Preferred Qualifications
● Coursework or major in arts, design, fashion, or liberal arts
● Experience and knowledge of Banner, Hobsons CRM and
Perceptive, a plus

The Syracuse University Strasbourg Center is seeking candidates for the position of Student Activities
and Services Coordinator.
The ideal candidate will work with the American students in the program, helping them navigate life in
Strasbourg and make the most of their stay in France. A good knowledge of American and French
cultures is essential, as well as an excellent command, written and oral, of both English and French. The
candidate must be able to serve as a cultural intermediary, helping students overcome problems of daily
life in a foreign country and finding those activities that will best allow them adapt to and profit from life
in Strasbourg.
The candidate must be able to take initiatives and work independently. But, as an employee of a small
organization, she/he must also know how to work on a team.
Occasional evening and weekend work will be necessary in order to accompany the students on cultural
outings, excursions or study tours.

Computer skills: The candidate should have good working knowledge of computer systems as well as
the ability to learn new technologies.

Job duties include:

Primary Responsibilities

Manage academic databases

Manage student registration in IES Abroad courses and partner university courses

Manage internship agreements (conventions de stage)

Assist when needed with the finding of internship placements and with the placement of students into internships

Manage the academic content of the internship program

Manage attendance, including entering data into IES Abroad system

Manage academics for Customized Programs and otherwise assist with Customized Program as needed

Collect and enter grades into IES Abroad system (Atlas)

Report grades to IES Abroad Chicago before the release of transcripts

Report on enrollments (e.g. number of students in IES Abroad and partner university courses, number of courses per student, number of credits per student)

Collect syllabi from faculty and update as necessary

Prepare materials for the IES Abroad Curriculum Committee, including translations as needed

Assist the Center Director in the development of academic programs

Manage course and program evaluations

Manage the French Assistantship and Summer Scholars programs

Administer Moodle (e-Learning platform), including importing courses, students, and faculty; posting program news; updating information each semester, e.g. resources about partner university courses

Maintain positive and professionally-constructive relationships with IES Abroad faculty: develop a wide range of pedagogical supports such as books, educational technology of various sorts, DVDs, newspapers, and online access to French newspapers; provide feedback from students; develop communication tools such as a Moodle professor’s page including shared resources, a professor-to-professor forum, and cross-disciplinary projects

Manage library systems, acquisitions and loans

Create and maintain a partnership with public libraries

Contact IT support as needed for computer and IT issues

Provide general day-to-day support for student computers (e.g. Wi-Fi, printers)

Purchase office supplies

Manage course pack production, book orders, and copyright issues

Participate in cultural activities and CORE

Job Responsibilities:

General Description 

The responsibilities of the Admissions Counselor for Special Programs are two-fold:

- Develop and carry out recruitment strategies to increase student enrollment at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

- Conduct recruitment and logistics of the Special Programs, to include the summer program, faculty-led courses and winter courses.

Responsibilities and Duties


- Recruit domestic and international students for all programs: develop and carry out recruitment strategy to increase student enrollment for undergraduate and graduate level programs
- Plan recruitment travel: schedule individual high school visits and participate in university fairs abroad
- Counsel candidates from inquiry to enrollment stage, review candidate files and participate in admissions decision meetings
- Meet with prospective students: conduct school tours, lead information sessions and review portfolios
- Assist in the organization and implementation of on-campus events such as bi-annual orientation weeks and open houses

Special Programs:

- Manage Summer and other Special programs
- Maintain related web content year round
- Coordinate with Faculty and Dean for curricular planning
- Manage recruitment and enrollment of Summer students
- Coordinate extracurricular activities with Student Life
- In coordination with the Business Office and Human Resources, oversee and control program expenditures based on defined  budget for the Summer program.
- Manage phone/ email inquiries, communication plan and marketing strategies
- Research new partnerships, maintain a network of schools counselors and providers, follow agreement negotiations until signature


- Write, edit and publish news articles destined to the internal and external Paris College of Art community

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in art preferred

Education and/ or practical experience in Art and/or Design Knowledge of the American educational system preferred but not mandatory

Project Management

Interest in working on a team to promote Paris College of Art
